We stayed here this past weekend. We have stayed a few times in the past. The room was quite small, but clean and comfortable. The staff were excellent. The pool was dirty and hot tub was less than hot and again dirty. The breakfast left much to be desired. The muffins were undercooked, my husband had to spit his out after one bite. The English muffins were stale. Even after toasting it had to be thrown out. No real knife available to cut the English muffin, had to use a plastic one. Toaster needs replacing, Knob was broken off, leaving the metal handle exposed. Big Plastic fork was what was provided to get your food out of the toaster. PLASTIC on heat. Nice! I found the price to be quite high for the size of the room and given the quality of the Free Breakfast, which definitely isnt free.
When staying at the Bancroft Sword Motor Inn on July 14, there was a lot of mold on the tile area in the bathroom. It was disgusting. Didnt want to use shower or tub at all. I took pictures; couldnt believe it. The jets in the hot tub were not strong at all. Didnt think it was working. Pool was good.
We stayed one night at the Sword Inn. There are not a lot of options in Bancroft, so we narrowed down our selection to stay here pretty quick. The Sword Inn is not new, but we were happy to see that the rooms were very clean. The pool area was looked after and clean. The complimentary breakfast was not fancy, but okay. The stay was as expected. The staff were friendly, and we had good value for the cost.
Stayed one night here for a wedding. Room was small and musky smelling, but generally tidy. Pillows we're not very comfortable but mattress was fine. Bathroom was tiny and our shower head was awful. One of our room keycards didn't work. That all being said, there aren't many choices in the area and despite some flaws this might be the best hotel in Bancroft.
We needed an extra night and they called the manager on his day off and got us the extra night. Cleanliness ok to good. Service usually good although not always 100% nice to my mom. Those access cards always get demagnetized and you have to keep going back to the service desk to get new cards.
